Weather halts first-round play at PGA's Zurich Classic
AVONDALE, La. (AP) More than two inches of heavy rain and lightning has forced a stoppage in play during Thursday's first round of the Zurich Classic. The first players to tee off were on the course for a little more than two-and-a-half hours before the horn sounded to suspend play. RELATED: Leaderboard The tandem of Joel Dahmen and Brandon Harkins left the course with the early lead at 6 under through nine holes at the par-72, TPC Louisiana course just southwest of New Orleans. One group played as many as 10 holes before play was stopped.
Tony Romo missed the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson Friday, making it the third straight PGA Tour event that the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback has missed the cut in . Romo finished eight-over after the second round, but played his first 11 holes on Friday at 1-under.

The former NFL quarterback missed the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson Friday after finishing the first two rounds 8-over.
Romo was T-148 after Round 2, ahead of seven other golfers, three of which withdrew due to injuries.
Romo began Friday's second round at his home course of Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas on a hopeful note as he sat at even par through his first nine holes. But he struggled with inconsistency on his next nine, recording two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on No. 4. He finished Friday's round 3-over 74.
This was the third PGA Tour appearance for the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Romo competed in the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship in 2018 and in March, but missed the cut in both tournaments at 15 over.

At least thus far, Tony Romo 's PGA Tour career has been a three-and-out. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback and current CBS lead football analyst shot a 76-74 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, missing the cut for the third time in three PGA Tour starts. Romos 's second round started positively

Romo, who had 10,000-1 odds to win this week's tournament, will be back to action soon. The lead analyst for the NFL on CBS is making a run for the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He is expected to compete in 2019 U.S. Open local qualifying at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas beginning Monday.

Bethpage Black seemed an unlikely venue for Jordan Spieth to snap a slump. Colonial Country Club, on the other hand, looks to be the ideal setting for him to end a victory drought. Spieth is one of the headliners of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, one of his favorite haunts on the PGA Tour.
