David Griffin disputes notion Zion Williamson doesn’t want to join Pelicans

David Griffin disputes notion Zion Williamson doesn’t want to join Pelicans Reports suggest Zion Williamson was unhappy that the New Orleans Pelicans beat the odds and won last week’s draft lottery, thereby assuring the team would select him given his status as the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The world of sports fandom is filled with zealous fans getting unfortunate tattoos . This is one of them .

The Knicks wound up with the No. 3 pick and now won't get their shot at Duke's Zion Williamson . At least one Knicks fan definitely lost in a much bigger way. About 30 minutes before the Knicks found out their fate, a woman at a Knicks lottery party unveiled a tattoo of Williamson on her ankle.

The New York Knicks organization saw their best-laid plans blow up in their faces by missing out on securing the top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and the opportunity to select Zion Williamson.

One Knicks fan, sadly, is now stained, perhaps permanently, in the wake of the team’s disappointing experience at the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery.

The Knicks, despite having the worst record last season, walked away from Tuesday night’s draft lottery with the No. 3 pick in this year’s draft. Knicks fans to a person — not to mention ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith — were left devastated over how the lottery played out for the team.

Sean Payton is already trying to lure Zion Williamson to the Saints

Sean Payton is already trying to lure Zion Williamson to the Saints It’s been over 12 hours since it was announced that the No. 1 pick in NBA draft belongs to the New Orleans Pelicans, and fans and employees may still be blinking in disbelief. The team had just a four percent chance of landing the top pick, and now they’re looking at a future that almost certainly contains Zion Williamson. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton doesn’t think Williamson should stop at the Pelicans, though. He has visions of grandeur in his head, visions of a two-sport athlete who could take the city and the sports world by storm. Allow Payton to introduce you to Saints player Zion Williamson. @[email protected] Had a thought.......

The sad realization that the Williamson dream was no more tainted an otherwise promising offseason for the Knicks. Instead of the team landing the consensus top pick, Williamson will be there for the taking by the lottery-winning New Orleans Pelicans.

One evidently overconfident Knicks fan, arguably ignoring the long-suffering organization’s run of dysfunction and rotten luck, decided to tempt fate ahead of the lottery by getting inked with a Williamson-themed tattoo which featured “ZION” replacing “KNICKS” in the team’s logo.

Hindsight is always 20/20, it is said, and the preemptive inked celebration anticipating that Williamson would be in a Knicks uniform next season now appears nothing more than a foolish move, albeit one inspired by hope that the team would somehow be the beneficiary of some good fortune for once.

Spike Lee pleads with 'basketball gods' to give Knicks No. 1 pick

Spike Lee pleads with 'basketball gods' to give Knicks No. 1 pick Academy Award-winning director Spike Lee hopes divine intervention will help his beloved New York Knicks land the top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Ahead of Tuesday night's draft lottery, Lee posted a message on Instagram asking the "basketball gods" to give the Knicks the coveted pick and "drop a hint" to Kevin Durant to come to New York. "Dear basketball gods please take your faithful out of the wilderness to the heavenly orange and blue skies," he wrote. "We don't think that is too much to ask considering we haven't had an NBA championship in 46 years." Lee isn't the only Knicks fan praying for Zion Williamson.

The occasions when tattoos, predictions and sports intersect are always amusing. That said, predictive tattoos can be seriously risky business. Just ask this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy, as their respective boastful tattoo predictions didn’t pan out for them at all.

The same can now be said about this Knicks fan, one who saw their optimism quickly thwarted thanks to the random and unpredictable bouncing of a bunch of ping pong balls.
