Los Angeles wrapped up a 7-2 homestand, with four of the wins being shutouts.

Maeda gave up three hits over 6 2/3 innings and reached double-digit strikeouts for the fifth time in the majors. He finished one short of his career high for Ks set in 2016 against San Diego.

"I was able to mix everything up tonight," Maeda said through a translator. "I did have the conviction and attacked the strike zone while keeping my pitch count to a minimum."

Maeda (5-2) had the key hit of the game, too, with a two-out, two-run bloop single to right field in the second. He became the first Dodgers pitcher to have two hits and two RBIs in a game since Zack Greinke in 2014.

Kenley Jansen worked the ninth for his 14th save, aided by a diving play up the middle from second baseman Kiké Hernández. With two runners aboard, Jansen struck out Hunter Renfroe and pinch-hitter Alex Dickerson to end it.

Joc Pederson homers twice and Kenta Maeda works Nationals in win

Joc Pederson homers twice and Kenta Maeda works Nationals in win May 11-- May 11--The night's first batter spelled trouble for Kenta Maeda. In a vacuum, issuing a full-count walk to Adam Eaton to begin Friday's game at Dodger Stadium on Friday was minor. But these games aren't played in vacuums and recent history -- the command problems hindering Maeda this young season -- suggested difficulties loomed. It was another walk, another leadoff man on base, another self-created obstacle to overcome. And it was merely a blip. Maeda shifted gears from there, retiring 18 of the final 20 Washington Nationals he faced in the Dodgers' 5-0 victory.

Matt Strahm (1-3) went five innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. The left-hander, who has a 2.33 ERA in five road starts, struck out five.

"Matt gave us an opportunity to win. He mixed well and could have easily had zero runs through five," Padres manager Andy Green said. "Those were soft hits that brought those runs in."

Corey Seager got two hits for the Dodgers.

Eric Hosmer had three of San Diego's four hits. The Padres dropped four of five on their road trip and are 4-7 in their last 11 games overall.

Players say Yankees, Dodgers have MLB’s best uniforms

Players say Yankees, Dodgers have MLB’s best uniforms A poll of current players was conducted by MLB.com recently focusing on which team boasts the game’s best uniform. In what can’t be considered too much of a surprise, the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers tied for the top spot. “Just the crisp, clean white with the blue lettering and the one red number. That’s really clean. And even their grey uniforms with the blue and just the red number kind of stands out,” Red Sox veteran Brock Holt said about the Dodgers uniforms. Meanwhile, the Yankees’ ranking was more about their history and the well-known pinstripes. “It’s such a historic one.

—— The Dodgers put up a crooked number in the 3rd, plating three thanks to some timely hitting and poor Padres defense. Enrique Hernandez got the rally going with a one- out double, and then with two down Matt Kemp (who else) came through with a single up the middle to drive in a run.
