Bucks, Knicks, Nets win in Boston

Bucks, Knicks, Nets win in Boston Kyrie Irving has already changed his mind about committing to the Celtics, so what he decides in free agency this summer — at this juncture — is anybody’s guess. But logic would indicate that the longer the Celtics stay in the playoffs, the more likely Irving stays in Boston. In other words, the Knicks and Nets are rooting for the Milwaukee Bucks. So Friday night was good for New York basketball, as the Celtics lost 123-116 to the Bucks and gave up home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Opinion: Kyrie Irving , Kevin Durant to Knicks? Possible, impossible at the same time. The 2019 summer of free agency is taking a new shape with wide-open possibilities, and the pressure is on Durant , Irving , Kevin Knox, Allonzo Trier and either Williamson or Barrett on the Knicks – it seems

Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery had a much bigger impact on the free agency hysteria surrounding Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving and Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant than initially expected.

Rumors have blatantly circulated for most of the 2018-19 season that the New York Knicks are favorites to land the two All-Stars during this summer's free agency period.

The Brooklyn Nets have also quietly been in play with it being reported as far back as March, a month after the most tumultuous stretch of the Celtics' season, that Irving preferred signing with the Nets over the Knicks.

Report: Kyrie Irving will not be fined for criticizing officials

Report: Kyrie Irving will not be fined for criticizing officials Kyrie Irving may avoid a fine despite criticizing the officials following his Boston Celtics’ 123-116 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. Irving was upset over all the foul calls Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo received and said it was “getting ridiculous” because the calls slowed down the game. Comments criticizing the officials typically result in a fine for a coach or player, but The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reported Sunday that he hears Irving will avoid a fine. Hearing Kyrie Irving will NOT be fined for his Game 3 postgame comments about the officiating. #Celtics#Bucks.

Kyrie Andrew Irving (/ˈkaɪri/; born March 23, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

However, seeing how the Knicks flopped in obtaining the top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft - likely missing out on Zion Williamson - the Nets suddenly appear to be an increasingly attractive destination for Irving and Durant.

Marc Stein of The New York Times told Stephen A. Smith that Irving and Durant could join forces in Brooklyn by next season (h/t Anthony Puccio of SB Nation)

"They are going to look at the Nets just as hard as the Knicks, Stein said on The Stephen A. Smith Show podcast Tuesday."

The Nets have no picks in the lottery but their big win here is the Knicks are seated at the third overall spot in the draft, where prospects such as Duke University's R.J. Barrett and the University of Virginia's DeAndre Hunter will likely be the best remaining players on the board. While both provide an immediate boost to a franchise, neither allow the Knicks a practical opportunity to parlay their assets for the superstar of their choosing.

Report: It’s between Lakers, Nets for Kyrie Irving.
A lot has been made about the possibility of Boston Celtics star guard Kyrie Irving landing with the New York Knicks. Despite the Knicks’ struggles on the court, New York City is still seen as the Mecca of the basketball world. Most recently, Irving’s potential destinations in free agency this coming July have included the Brooklyn Nets. Seen as closer to contending and with a much better front office structure, Brooklyn is expected to be players for star talent during the summer. The same can’t really be said for a drama-filled Los Angeles Lakers team. In fact, LeBron James is concerned said drama might limit Los Angeles’ ability to add a star player.
