Kawhi Leonard free agency rumors: Star re-signing with Raptors is a ‘serious consideration now’

Kawhi Leonard free agency rumors: Star re-signing with Raptors is a ‘serious consideration now’ Leonard re-signing with Toronto is a “serious consideration now,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday on “The Woj Pod.” Wojnarowski said: "Kawhi Leonard just felt all along, it was going to take the full year to sell him on Toronto. It wasn't going to be done in training camp or by Christmas or by the trade deadline. But I do think they've made progress with him. I think they've made pretty good progress with him from the sense I have. They put themselves in it. And when Kawhi showed up there, I'm not sure he imagined any future in Toronto. I do think it's a serious consideration now.

Kawhi Anthony Leonard (/kəˈwaɪ/, born June 29, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

In the blockbuster trade that sent Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a protected first-round pick, we all sort of lose. Even if he is healthy and motivated, the Raptors —still reeling from their disastrous post- season —are far from a powerhouse.

Kawhi Leonard did it again.

For the second straight Sunday, Leonard, who is one of the best players in the world, did just about everything that needed to be done yet again to led the Toronto Raptors to a Game 3 double-OT, 118-112 win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.

BOX SCORE: RAPTORS 118, BUCKS 112 (2OT)

The win makes it a series again, with Milwaukee leading 2-1. A loss on Sunday would have pretty much been the end for the Raptors but now they have new life heading into Tuesday night's Game 4.

And they should all thank Leonard, who scored a game-high 36 points in a game-high 52 minutes.

Just look that night Leonard had:

Leonard was limited to nine games last season by injury and can leave the team in free agency next summer. The Toronto Raptors took the biggest gamble in franchise history by completing a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for the superstar forward Kawhi Leonard .

Kawhi Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors after a long-standing, ugly, and confusing dispute with the San Antonio Spurs. There is a scenario where this could pay off for Leonard . If the Raptors can’t convince him to play productive basketball for their team, there is a way they could try and gain a

He also did it on the defensive end where he often guarded Giannis, who finished with just 12 points in 44 minutes before fouling out in the beginning of the second OT.

Oh, and Leonard seemed to do it all on a bum left left, as he was seen grimacing a few times in the game, including after a late dunk that electrified the arena. Leonard wouldn't give any details after the game about his leg injury but it didn't seem to slow him down at all.

This all comes just one week after Leonard hit the biggest shot in franchise history. Now he has them back in a series and just three wins away from a trip to the NBA Finals.

Raptors make calculated gamble in blockbuster Kawhi Leonard trade with Spurs. San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard (2) celebrates after scoring during the second quarter as On the other side, teams interested in acquiring Leonard didn’t want to give up too much in a trade knowing

Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard has been resting on back-to-backs, but has now missed his second game in a row with a foot injury. Even without Leonard , though, the Raptors are gunning for the Eastern Conference Championship and daring anyone to stop them.

He came up huge all night, but especially in the second overtime.

There was this dunk, where he grimaced after, that was sneaky powerful:

Then shortly after that there was this steal and slam:

Then there was another huge bucket in the final minute:

Now we go to Game 4 where he'll have to do it all over again for the Raptors to have a chance against Giannis and Co.

Will Leonard have enough left in the tank to make this even more of a series?

If the past two Sundays are any indication, the answer to that question has to be yes.

Without Leonard around stealing basketballs via ESP, there’s not much obviously sexy about the Raptors . Serge Ibaka has had a resurgent season as Steve Kerr seemed to think his team was just sort of tired and unmotivated for a regular season game after going to the Finals four years in a row

Toronto fans may be upset about losing DeMar DeRozan, but the end of two franchise players’ tenures is a reminder that loyalty in sports is meant to be rebuilt.
