Joe Lacob said something pretty important after the Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals on Monday night Kevin Durant sustained a strained right calf late in the third quarter of the Warriors ' Game 5 win over the Rockets in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

According to Warriors owner Joe Lacob , they won’t have to. It sure sounds like we can expect Kevin Durant back for the NBA Finals . That’s the first we’ve head of anything that sounds like a confirmation from Golden State that Durant is “ coming back for the Finals .”

Kevin Durant still has no official timetable to return, but Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob seems to be spilling the beans on that front.

After the Warriors advanced to their fifth straight NBA Finals with a 119-117 overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, Lacob spoke on the injured forward with Sam Amick of The Athletic.

“I don’t know if you forgot so quickly how in the first round, and the second round, and how everyone was saying Kevin was the greatest player in the world and he was dominant,” said Lacob. “So he was incredibly important.

“Unfortunately, he got injured,” Lacob continued about Durant. “He’s coming back now for the Finals, and so the story’s not fully written yet.”

Kevin Durant sustained a strained right calf late in the third quarter of the Warriors ' Game 5 win over the Rockets in the second round of the NBA playoffs. The reigning two-time NBA Finals MVP missed the Western Conference finals against the Trail Blazers and didn't travel to Portland for Games 3 and 4.

The reigning back-to-back Finals MVP suffered a calf strain during Game 5 of the Western Conference semis against the Houston Rockets and has missed five straight games and counting since. With Golden State sweeping the Blazers, however, that gives the Warriors nine full days of rest before the Finals start on May 30, which would mark roughly three weeks since Durant went down.

Durant appears to be getting antsy on the sidelines, especially with the team undefeated since his injury. Lacob’s comments make it seem like he will be back sooner than later though.

Kerr: It's 'feasible' that Durant may play after 1 practice.
The waiting game for Warriors star Kevin Durant will continue through at least Tuesday. Warriors coach Steve Kerr says it is "feasible" that the two-time NBA Finals MVP may only need one practice before he can jump into this year's title series against the Toronto Raptors. Golden State has been without Durant since he strained a calf muscle in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against Houston. Game 2 is Sunday night and Game 3 is Wednesday night. Golden State has Monday off.
