Report: People close to Jeanie Buss 'imploring her to trade LeBron James' The Los Angeles Lakers went from being “this close” to bringing Ty Lue on board as the next head coach to all of a sudden being a complete train wreck again. After Lue reportedly walked away from negotiations, it’s now being reported that people close to owner Jeanie Buss are pleading with her to trade superstar LeBron James. Stephen A. Smith said on "SportsCenter" (h/t Bleacher Report) that the latest developments with Lue have sparked this. “Nothing is out of bounds right now. We don’t know what the hell is going on in Los Angeles. You’ve got folks close to Jeanie Buss imploring her to trade LeBron James.

A sorely disappointing 2018-19 season for the Los Angeles Lakers culminated in team president Magic Johnson abruptly resigning.

Since then, it has not been great for LeBron James and Co. Johnson’s recent comments calling out Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka coupled with uneasiness within the front office only add to this.

For his part, James is now worried that the Lakers’ drama will impact their ability to add star players in free agency.

“Even before Magic’s latest move, sources close to LeBron James expressed concern that the combination of Magic’s messy exit and all the negative Lakers headlines threatened to sabotage their summer,” Sam Amick of The Athletic reported Tuesday. “The challenge of convincing another elite star to come to town was already seen as daunting around the league, and now these horrendous optics make that uphill climb far worse.”

Lakers hire Frank Vogel as next head coach

Lakers hire Frank Vogel as next head coach Vogel led the Pacers to five playoff series in six years after being named Indiana's interim coach in 2011. He was hired by Orlando in 2016 but was fired at the end of the 2017-18 season. He posted a 304-291 (.511) career mark in 595 games According to an ESPN report Saturday, former Bucks and Nets head coach Jason Kidd is expected to join him as a lead assistant. Vogel's deal is reportedly for three years, according to ESPN.

Shortly after the Lakers signed LeBron James to a four-year max contract, the Lake Show made a few head-scratching moves: re-signing Kentavious It just means he had been "consulted" on the plan. A source close to LeBron told Windhorst: "Unlike most free agents changing teams, LeBron is arriving

Los Angeles has long been seen as potential big-time players in free agency. It’s one of the reasons LeBron signed with the team last summer.

The Lakers have enough cap room to add two max-contract players. They have also been closely linked to New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis in trade talks — though it now appears nothing is going to come to fruition on that end.

Short of James and Co. adding at least one star player, the team will continue to be mired in mediocrity. That’s especially true with the domination we’ve seen in Oakland out west.

This could be a franchise-altering offseason in Hollywood. Unfortunately, it might not end up in the Lakers’ favor. LeBron is certainly worried about that possibility.

Report: It’s between Lakers, Nets for Kyrie Irving.
A lot has been made about the possibility of Boston Celtics star guard Kyrie Irving landing with the New York Knicks. Despite the Knicks’ struggles on the court, New York City is still seen as the Mecca of the basketball world. Most recently, Irving’s potential destinations in free agency this coming July have included the Brooklyn Nets. Seen as closer to contending and with a much better front office structure, Brooklyn is expected to be players for star talent during the summer. The same can’t really be said for a drama-filled Los Angeles Lakers team. In fact, LeBron James is concerned said drama might limit Los Angeles’ ability to add a star player.
