James Harden, Chris Paul reportedly at odds over Rockets' style of play

James Harden, Chris Paul reportedly at odds over Rockets' style of play As the Houston Rockets prepare for a pivotal offseason, the team will need to make sure all of its most prominent figures are on the same page. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, there was “something of a clash of styles” brewing during the season in Houston, as some members of the team — including guard Chris Paul — pushed coach Mike D’Antoni to include more movement in his offense. D’Antoni and the Rockets, of course, relied heavily on James Harden's isolation-centric style, and those iso possessions became less efficient in the postseason.

All-Star Chris Paul is headed to the Rockets as part of a blockbuster trade that will send seven players, a first-round draft pick and cash to the Clippers. The Rockets needed to make the finances work before the trade became official. Houston's other moves included acquiring Hilliard (from Detroit

What some hinted at last week after reports surfaced about a rift between Chris Paul and James Harden is now even closer to becoming a reality.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Wednesday morning that the Houston Rockets are making Chris Paul and basically anybody else not named James Harden available for a trade.

The possibility of trading All-NBA guard James Harden is believed to be extremely limited, but the rest of the roster - including even Chris Paul and Clint Capela - could be more realistic trade targets for teams, sources said.

Obviously with Chris Paul being one of LeBron's best friends in the NBA, the speculation has run rampant about the Lakers potentially dealing for him. But while LeBron may want that, the biggest question will be whether the Lakers current power structure does. And most of the rhetoric coming from that side of the Lakers organization has indicated a concern about "oversize superstardom." Paul seems to fit the description of what the new Lakers regime is trying to avoid, but they've contradicted themselves plenty before.

Rockets’ Mike D'Antoni wants to coach two or three more years

Rockets’ Mike D'Antoni wants to coach two or three more years Following another tremendous regular season, Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni is currently in extension negotiations with the team. D’Antoni made that announcement just recently, indicating he’d like to coach two or three more years. “We’ve been in contract discussions, and we still are about the extension,” the head coach said, via Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston. “I think I can go two or three more years at the level I want to be at and everything will play out in the near future.” D’Antoni, 68, has led the Rockets to a 173-73 record in three seasons as their head coach.

The Clippers have sent Paul to the Rockets in exchange for a massive trade package, Houston confirmed today in a press release. According to Wojnarowski, the Clippers and Rockets reached an agreement after Paul informed L.A. that he intended to sign with Houston in free agency. Woj Bomb.

Paul opted-into the final year of his contract, making the trade a one-year experiment. CP3 was expected to opt-out of his contract with the Clippers Harden and Paul were determined to play with each other, according to Woj , with The Beard lobbying for the Rockets to deal for the all-star floor

Paul is 34 and has three years and $124 million remaining on his contract, including a player option in 2021-22 worth nearly $45 million. Yes, Paul is widely known as LeBron's best friend in the league today, but we must remember his history when considering a trade or a move for a friend of his.

James' basketball alliances have always been more pragmatic than his friendships. Let's remember that this is the same James who in the summer of 2014 let Dwyane Wade opt out of $20 million, only to go back to Cleveland to play with a younger stable of players in Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson.

Although the young Lakers got injured and faltered without him last year, his track record shows he usually believes in upside when it becomes to picking his teammates.

Mike D'Antoni downplays tension between James Harden, Chris Paul

Mike D'Antoni downplays tension between James Harden, Chris Paul Amid rumors of discord between his two star players, Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said that tension between guards Chris Paul and James Harden is nothing to worry about. D’Antoni said that it’s “normal” for the teammates to go back-and-forth about the correct style and added that the whole thing isn’t much of a story. Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni also addressed the @TheAthletic report about tense talks between himself, Chris Paul and James Harden regarding style of play. https://t.co/T6IHQneHbZpic.twitter.

Houston has made aggressive moves to acquire salary to trade for Paul before July 1st. **This article was updated at 2 p.m. Central to reflect new trade terms from Woj **. To make the trade work from a salary and roster perspective Houston included Harrell and Wiltjer, who were not discussed in

NBA players, basketball Twitter go crazy after Chris Paul reportedly traded to Rockets . There were plenty of people who don't see this trade meaning too much for the Rockets ' postseason hopes and question how Paul and James Harden will mesh together.
