Former Lakers player tells Kyle Kuzma to 'start packing' amid trade rumors Rumors of a potential trade sending New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers started heating up on Wednesday. Specifically, the Lakers are said to be willing to offer up their No. 4 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft as well as youngsters Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram in a trade. For their part, the Pelicans want star young forward Kyle Kuzma to be included. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen. However, former Lakers guard and current Cleveland Cavalier Jordan Clarkson has some advice for Kuzma. Start packing your bags.

Adrian Wojnarowski dives deep into the news that Anthony Davis does not intend to sign an extension with the New Orleans Pelicans . He examines the impact for the Pelicans (0:30), the Los Angeles Lakers (1:24), the Boston Celtics (2:34), and some under-the-radar teams (4:31) that could make a

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in independent trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and their No. 4 pick in the upcoming draft available in a potential deal with the Pelicans, league sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein.

Los Angeles is currently unwilling to part with Kyle Kuzma despite New Orleans' wishes that the forward be added to any trade package, sources told The Los Angeles Times' Tania Ganguli and Brad Turner.

News of the Celtics' pursuit of Davis comes shortly after his agent, Rich Paul, said that the All-Star should be viewed as a rental option for Boston and not a long-term solution.

Pelicans make counteroffer to Lakers in Anthony Davis talks

Pelicans make counteroffer to Lakers in Anthony Davis talks It was reported on Wednesday that the Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans surrounding star Anthony Davis. Specifically, the Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball as well as the fourth overall pick in next week’s NBA Draft available to New Orleans. Another piece of information suggested that New Orleans was holding out for star young forward Kyle Kuzma. There’s a possibility that the Pelicans would pass on the top-five pick if Los Angeles included Kuzma. Now comes this report from Brandon Robinson of MSG indicating that New Orleans has made a counteroffer to the Lakers.

Pelicans forward Anthony Davis watches a video tribute to Chuck Edwards, the late Pelicans announcer, during a timeout in the first half Over the course of their talks , the Lakers made several changes to their proposals, one person said. “They wanted more and more and more,” one person said.

Trade talks between the Lakers and Pelicans have died. The Lakers were not going to give the Pelicans the six to eight draft picks they wanted for Davis , the person said, knowing that the four first-round picks and The Celtics great came clean about his wheelchair incident during the 2008 Finals.

"They can trade for him, but it'll be for one year," Rich Paul told Sports Illustrated's S.L. Price. "I mean if the Celtics traded for Anthony Davis, we would go there and we would abide by our contractual (obligations) and we would go into free agency in 2020."

The Celtics were previously rumored to have interest in adding Davis alongside point guard Kyrie Irving. However, reports suggest it's increasingly unlikely Irving remains in Boston, as he's interested in signing with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Lakers, meanwhile, re-enter Davis discussions after failing to add the superstar to play beside LeBron James ahead of February's trade deadline. They reportedly offered the team's entire young core.

Davis reportedly listed the Lakers and New York Knicks as his preferred long-term destinations.
