Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters that Cousins, who suffered a torn quad muscle in the first round of the playoffs, will play Thursday night against the Toronto Raptors. Cousins returned to the practice floor last Thursday in an effort to return the floor. At that time, the team said that Cousins would be available “at some point” during the Finals. Cousins hasn’t played since April 16, when he injured his left quad in Game 2 of the Warriors’ opening round series against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Redskins agreed to trade for Alex Smith, which means that Cousins has played his last game in DC. Hours later, reports emerged that Smith would be traded to the Redskins, which means that Kirk Bortles will be compensated like a replacement- level quarterback because, well, that's what he is. Henry is now a year removed from his injury and Anthony Lynn says he should be ready to go.

Kirk Cousins knows better than anyone that offense doesn't always win games.

While speaking Wednesday at Minnesota's mandatory minicamp, the Vikings quarterback admitted his place in the NFL landscape isn't the strongest and reiterated the need to change that in 2019 if the team hopes to improve its position in the brutal NFC North.

"I think the next level, really, is all about winning," Cousins told reporters. "I'm pretty much a .500 quarterback in my career so far and I don't think that's where you want to be and that's not why you are brought in or people are excited about you.

Opening up to Rachel Nichols of ESPN, Cousins said he was “just ready to quit. Like, throw the towel in” after that devastating injury. “I was just ready to quit. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins , who is in line for a long-term contract this offseason, presents quite the conundrum. I ’ m not here to blame Cousins . But this team was built to win with great offense while the defense remained under construction.

A look at where Kirk Cousins , Baker Mayfield and more than a dozen other QBs could land, from teams with desperate needs to ones keeping eyes Whomever the Patriots pick—assuming it’s a draft choice they use to take their long-term development quarterback and heir to Brady—you can bet

"If I don't play well, if I don't have gaudy statistics but we win multiple playoff games this year, the narrative will be I went to the next level and I may not walk off the field every day feeling like I did but if we win, that's the life of a quarterback, you are at the next level. If I have my best year yet in 2018 but we're 8-8, I didn't go to the next level. That's the reality of it."

Cousins had a career season in 2018 as he posted his highest completion percentage (70.1) and his second highest total in passing yards (4,298) while throwing more touchdowns (30) than he has ever had since being drafted by the Redskins in 2012. Still, it wasn't enough to help the Vikings as Minnesota finished 8-7-1 and missed the playoffs after making it to the NFC title game the year before.

Kirk Cousins knows he needs to deliver after disappointing initial season with Vikings

Kirk Cousins knows he needs to deliver after disappointing initial season with Vikings Kirk Cousins faces a pivotal second season with the Vikings after 2018 ended with disappointment in Minnesota.

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins (8) celebrates with Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy (12) after throwing what turned out to be the game winning touchdown in the game against the Los Angeles Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

When Kirk Cousins agreed to terms to become the Minnesota Vikings' new quarterback , he did more than simply conclude the biggest storyline in free agency. It not only makes him the highest paid player in football history, but he's also the first quarterback to sign a multi-year, fully guaranteed deal.

This time around, however, Cousins is hopeful for a different outcome.

"I'm going to do all I can, control what I can control," Cousins said. "And I think one thing I can do beyond just playing the best I can is to start really coaching and leading other people so that I can never walk off the field saying, 'Hey, I did my part but so-and-so didn't,' that can't happen.

"As a quarterback, you have to be bringing others along so that isn't a point you're making at the end of a practice or a game. That's really what it's all about."

Cousins, who signed a three-year deal worth $84 million with Minnesota last March after finishing his tenure in Washington, has gone 32-30-2 with the Redskins and Vikings since becoming a full-time starter in 2015.

These 10 quarterbacks all have to prove something in 2019

These 10 quarterbacks all have to prove something in 2019 We all know that quarterback is the most important position in football, but it's also one of the toughest positions to move on from. Look at how long the Bengals have stuck with Andy Dalton all because he's slightly better than serviceable. The unknown is a lot scarier than the known . . . especially when it comes to the quarterback position. In a world where QBs have to show something, it would be nice if these quarterbacks proved themselves in the upcoming season. Jared Goff Goff had a great year last season and played up to his top pick billing. The problem was that he ended up being a shell of himself in the Super Bowl.

Kirk Cousins told me. “I grew up always wanting to be a professional athlete and now that I am one, you look out and I kind of wish I was a businessman, but I ’ m not. Cousins ’s deal may set a precedent, but it is not going to lead directly to every quarterback asking for a fully guaranteed deal.

SportsPulse: In a shocking trade in the middle of Super Bowl week, the Chiefs and Redskins have agreed on a deal that will send quarterback Alex Smith to Washington. USA TODAY Sports.

He is 34-37-2 overall as a starter since entering the league.
