Fake Kawhi Leonard signs autographs at Raptors parade Toronto Raptors fans proved during the team’s championship run that they are arguably the most passionate in the NBA.

The good news for Raptors fans is that Leonard is reportedly interested in staying in Canada long-term. Chaos in the NBA is always fun, but Raptors fans have stuck in with this team for a long time and it would be nice to see the “little” guys win one for once. Kawhi should stay, and I hope he does.

As the Toronto Raptors were closing out the Golden State Warriors in this year’s NBA Finals, it seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Kawhi Leonard was going to return to Toronto.

An impending free agent, that’s apparently no longer the case. According to Chris Broussard of Fox Sports, the chances of Toronto retaining Leonard in free agency are “fading.” The report mentions the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers as the two teams likely to sign Leonard.

The Clippers were seen as co-favorites with Toronto to land Leonard just a couple short weeks ago. Things have changed some on that front after the Lakers added another max-contract spot in the Anthony Davis blockbuster trade.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this situation plays out once free agency officially opens Sunday evening.

Leonard will take visits with both the Los Angeles teams before giving the Raptors the final opportunity to woo him.
