The U.S. women are moving on to the knockout rounds of the 2019 World Cup after 270 minutes of soccer that were nearly flawless. The Americans completed a perfect group stage on Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Sweden. Their superiority was even more comprehensive than the scoreline suggests. And while the USWNT’s goals were somewhat fluky, their dominance was anything but. Lindsey Horan put the U.S.

The USWNT were leading Netherlands 1-0 after a Megan Rapinoe penalty kick. It was the 69th minute of the World Cup final, and Netherlands played the ball up the field. Crystal Dunn stepped in with a fantastic tackle, got the ball to a teammate, who fed it to Rose Lavelle in the middle of the field.

Rose Lavelle nearly set up the U.S. Women’s team with an early goal against England in the World Cup Semi-final off an incredible nutmeg.

With just over four minutes having gone by in the first half, Lavelle absolutely toyed with her defender, going right in between her legs before running around her to for a strike.

Just amazing footwork by Lavelle, and fans were in awe.

This one play epitomized how it’s gone early for the U.S. Women’s team against England, as the Americans have dictated the pace from the start.
