The U.S. women's national team played without an important player during Tuesday's semifinal of the Women's World Cup against England as Megan Rapinoe was benched due to a minor hamstring injury.

But, she believes she'll be ready to return for the final.

"I'll be ready," Rapinoe told Fox Sports after the Americans defeated England 2-1 to advance to the finals. "It's hard three days on the bounce in this old body."

Entering Tuesday's match, Rapinoe had scored the USA's only four goals in the knockout stage. She was replaced by Christen Press and there were questions as to whether Press would be able to fill the void left by the veteran, but Press scored in just the 10th minute.

Rapinoe explained what it was like to watch from the bench when many expected her to be on the pitch.

"It's just energy and confidence," Rapinoe said. "I feel like when we're on the bench that's all it is. You need to just be hyped for the team and where you can give those little tidbits but really give that energy. It's not all the time they're coming over but there's VAR decisions and you know breaks in the game and just giving that energy and getting those vibes out there."

Rapinoe gave the U.S. credit for stepping up in her absence and playing through injuries, while praising the depth that the United States has developed.

"They dug deep again," she added. "I mean we talked a lot leading into the tournament about the depth that we have and this is the moment where you need to display it. We had a couple of injuries. People are tired. We're in the sixth game of a long tournament. We've only had three rest days I think for four games in a row or three games in a row and that's where the depth comes in. Everyone stepped up. We're not afraid of the moment."

The Americans will now prepare for the final Sunday as they will face the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between Sweden and Germany.
