Report: Rockets expected to aggressively pursue Jimmy Butler

Report: Rockets expected to aggressively pursue Jimmy Butler The Houston Rockets appear to need a change, and they may have just the free agent in mind to help them with that much. Brian Smith of the Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday that the Rockets are expected to aggressively pursue four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler. The Dallas Mavericks are expected to pursue unrestricted free agents Kemba Walker and/or Khris Middleton this summer, sources told the New York Times' Marc Stein. The pair will be among a star-studded potential free-agent class, which could also include Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving

Report : Mavs Expected To Pursue Trio of Big Men. The Mavericks can create space to sign a max free agent, and multiple league sources expect them to pursue a trio of big men: DeAndre Jordan, DeMarcus Cousins , and restricted free agent Julius Randle.

The Dallas Mavericks aren't currently planning on pursuing unrestricted free agent DeMarcus Cousins, league sources told 247Sports' Mike Fisher.

Furthermore, there appears to be no market for the four-time All-Star center, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

On the surface, Dallas would have appeared to be a potential landing spot given its needs in the middle.

Cousins remains the second-biggest name left in free agency after Kawhi Leonard. He played 30 games this past season for the Golden State Warriors, coming off a year-long layoff from a ruptured Achilles. He made just $5.3 million in 2018-19, signing with the Warriors for the taxpayer mid-level exception last summer.

Comments on: Cuban details Mavs ’ two-year plan to recapture title.

Sources: Mavs have extended qualifying offers to Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith to make them restricted free agents. Dallas views Kleber and Finney-Smith as quality role players who fit well with their Luka Doncic-Kristaps Porzingis core.

Golden State seems to have moved on from Cousins and will reportedly sign center Willie Cauley-Stein.
