Former first-round pick Chris Stewart invited to try out for Flyers in comeback bid The Philadelphia Flyers have invited former NHL forward Chris Stewart to their training camp on a professional tryout. Stewart last played in the NHL during the 2017-18 season and spent the majority of last year in the EIHL with the Nottingham Panthers. Stewart, 31, has a familiarity with Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher from their days together with the Minnesota Wild, where the power forward played for parts of three seasons. It still is surprising to see his name pop up after a year in which it looked like Stewart was on the last legs of his professional career.

One of the highest-drafted linebackers in recent NFL history is looking to make a comeback after being away from the game for the past three seasons.

Rolando McClain told Matt Zenitz of that he would like to get back on the football field.

“Every time I got in my linebacker position, it was bone on bone grind,” McClain said. “Not only do I feel good, I’m recovered and I’m rested. I feel better now because I know I’ll be playing with two legs.”

McClain, 29, dealt with a bevy of off-field incidents after the Oakland Raiders made him the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The former Alabama standout started 61 games in five seasons, recording 412 tackles and four interceptions.

It’s not yet known what type of interest McClain will have around the NFL. It’s also not known whether he faces suspension from the league.
