Two-vehicle accident in Penn Hills leaves one dead, another injured Police are investigating after one woman was killed and a man was hurt in a two-vehicle accident early Monday in Penn Hills. Authorities responded just after 5 a.m. to the scene of the accident that occurred at the intersection of Saltsburg Road and Sycamore Drive. A woman, who drove a Nissan Rogue, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male driver of a Hummer H3 was taken to a local hospital with a broken ankle, fire officials said. Captain Tom Kutcher of the Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department said there were no other individuals in the vehicles during the incident. The cause of the accident is currently unknown. Penn Hills police are investigating.

Former FIU defensive back Emmanuel Lubin died in a car accident Saturday night, the school announced Sunday.

Lubin, 21, was a North Miami, Florida, native and attended North Miami Beach Senior High School before heading to FIU. In 2018, he started 13 games at defensive back as part of a school-record nine-win campaign and set career highs in tackles (31) and tackles-for-loss (2.5) with four pass breakups.

"Tragically, we lost a great young man in Emmanuel Lubin last night," FIU coach head coach Butch Davis said in a statement. "He was a hard worker, great teammate and was respected and loved by his teammates, coaches and staff at FIU. His character, work ethic and leadership were instrumental in leading our program to success these past two seasons. Our football program is mourning his loss and we will honor Emmanuel every day moving forward. Our hearts and prayers go out to his friends and family."

Former Pasadena councilwoman dies after being hit by car Pasadena residents and city leaders are mourning the passing of a former city councilwoman. At about 11 a.m. Monday, police were called to the parking lot of Macroplaza Mall where a woman was hit by a car. A white Chevrolet truck allegedly hit the woman as she crossed the crosswalk as she left Palais Royal. The woman was airlifted to the hospital where she later died. Police later identified the woman as former Pasadena councilwoman Pat Riley. Riley served as the District E councilwoman from 1991-1999 and as Mayor Pro Tem from 1998-1999. She was also an active member of the Pasadena Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association and regularly attended city council meetings.

Lubin played 45 games over four seasons with the Panthers and recorded one career interception. Per the school's statement, Lubin was pursuing a liberal studies degree at FIU and had aspirations to continue his football career.

According to his bio on the school's website, he is the brother of former NFL defensive back E.J. Biggers and the stepbrother of former NFL defender Louis Delmas.
