If Jeremy Loeliger, the CEO of the NBL Between playing overseas and the sales of his Melo Ball 1 shoes, he’s essentially ineligible for college ball , but he doesn’t regret his path.

"I definitely want to see what RJ (Hampton) and LaMelo (Ball) do after this year and see how they play against these professionals. It's definitely appealing playing against grown men, although you're playing against grown men in college too. Competition is going to be there no matter what."

Hampton police investigate shooting on Green Street

Hampton police investigate shooting on Green Street The Hampton Police Division is asking for the public's help identifying a person wanted in connection to a shooting on Monday. Around 1:15 a.m., Hampton's Public Safety Communications received a 911 call about shots being fired on Green Street, near the Langley Square Shopping Center. Responding officers learned that one person was shot, but he left the scene. Police said the 18-year-old man from Hampton walked into Sentara Careplex, and he was treated for a non-life threatening injury. Hampton police haven't released the motive or circumstances surrounding this incident. The police division has not released any more information about this shooting.

Jorge Sedano, Nick Friedell and Scottie Pippen discuss the possibility that more players -- like LaMelo Ball (Illawarra Hawks) and R . J . Hampton (New Zealand Breakers), who are both heading to Australia's National Basketball League -- will be skipping college basketball and heading overseas .

There were just five international-based players (meaning they came directly from overseas without college or G League time) among the first 40 selections last week; here, you’ll find five European-based prospects in the Top 30, not including American exports R . J . Hampton and LaMelo Ball

While a route Ball took because of his circumstances (i.e. not being eligible for college), Hampton is a better example of what could be the trend going forward. Hampton was a top recruit with options from essentially his choice of colleges that opted instead for the National Basketball League.

With other recruits watching, it's now in everyone's best interest for Ball and Hampton to find success. The two players obviously want to improve to better their draft status. The better the two play, the better the teams play and the higher they finish. And now, the better the two perform, the better it looks for the league and the more opportunities open up in the future.

But no pressure on Ball and Hampton. You just have an entire world watching.
