'Big Papi' shares first photo of himself since he was shot, helps move daughter into college Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz shared two photos of himself with family on Instagram on Sunday, the first time the public has seen "Big Papi" since he was shot nearly three months ago in the Dominican Republic. Ortiz and his wife, Tiffany, were helping their daughter, Alexandria, move into her college dorm room. According to her Instagram page, Alexandria Ortiz is attending the Berklee College of Music. She sang the national anthem at Fenway Park before a Red Sox game on April 11, 2016, her father's final season as a Major League Baseball player.

The 43-year-old Ortiz sustained serious injuries after he was shot in an attempted assassination, but we have since heard numerous updates about his progress — including one from Big Papi himself — that all sound encouraging. It’s good to see Ortiz back on his feet.
