And now, there seems like some reported movement on that front, although we'll see if that turns into an actual signing for the future Hall of Famer and veteran scorer.

"The Brooklyn Nets remain interested in potentially signing Anthony, who recently trained with a group of their players in Los Angeles, including Kyrie Irving," wrote Frank Isola in The Athletic. "In fact, one source told The Athletic that Irving and Kevin Durant, who both joined the Nets in July, are 'pushing' the club to sign Anthony."

The Houston Rockets have emerged as strong frontrunners to acquire Carmelo Anthony once he is free from A Better Fit with Paul. While Anthony was good in catch-and-shoots last season with a 54.3 effective field-goal percentage That's where his fit with Paul is perfect . What About Harden?

There are many reasons the Detroit Pistons should not pursue Carmelo Anthony if he becomes available. The e-mail suggests Anthony would be a perfect fit at small forward for the Pistons.

This actually makes a ton of sense for Brooklyn for a variety of reasons. Here are a few.

1. The Nets are extremely deep

This is a team that now has a second unit's worth of talent if you count Wilson Chandler (more on that in a second) with him, Spencer Dinwiddie, Garrett Temple, Rodions Kurucs and Jarrett Allen. That means you could throw Anthony into the mix and not have to depend on him too much, and Kenny Atkinson can find a mix of players to surround him with to help on defense, which Melo struggles with.

2. Kevin Durant is out a while and Chandler is suspended

Chandler was given a 25-game ban after testing positive for PEDs, and Durant is on the mend from his Achilles tear. So there's certainly room on a young team for Anthony to play.

Royce White rips LeBron James, Lakers for signing Jared Dudley instead of Carmelo Anthony

Royce White rips LeBron James, Lakers for signing Jared Dudley instead of Carmelo Anthony White, a former 16th overall pick who played just one season in the NBA, claims "Melo is absolutely being blackballed." White started his rant by defending Anthony. "He's giving too much to the game for them not to allow him to play or for them to culturally just make a decision or an agreement that he's not good enough any more," White said during an interview with ESPN. "All of us here who have played a game at the highest level know how good Melo is and we know that there's no way that the Lakers would go out and sign Jared Dudley and not sign Carmelo Anthony.

Carmelo Anthony was the second-biggest free agent on the market this past summer behind only LeBron James, but he spurned a host of apparent championship contenders to stay in New York and They was looking for a person like me to come in and just take them to the next level. So it was perfect .

On Monday, New York Times sports writer Marc Stein reported that Carmelo Anthony intends to sign with the Houston Rockets for the veteran minimum. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to avid Rockets fans. But, will Anthony fit with the Rockets?

3. Irving and Durant reportedly want him

Read above. If the new stars want Anthony, that's huge. Then it's not just on the team should Anthony fizzle out and not fit in well. It also puts some of the onus of getting Anthony to fit in on Irving as the point guard and centerpiece of the East contenders, and maybe after what happened in Boston, he wants to prove he can be a leader.

4. They're in the same city as the Knicks

I said back in February that there were clear reasons it was Nets over Knicks as a free-agent destination. In this case, it's a factor because Anthony might have extra motivation to make one more run in the city where he fell short.

So DO IT, Brooklyn.

Royce White tried to help Carmelo Anthony's free agency. Instead, he complicated it Carmelo Anthony still hasn't signed with an NBA team. On Tuesday, Royce White entered the conversation, miraculously pitting Anthony against both his good friend LeBron James and Jared Dudley, the veteran forward and former Brooklyn Net whom James' Lakers signed instead of Anthony. Instead of coming to the aid of the three-time Olympic gold medalist like he intended, White managed to complicate things for Anthony, who likely never sought White’s public approval and is now involved in a mess he didn’t even create. © AP File- This Nov.
