Two Tennessee football players have decided to leave the team, coach Jeremy Pruitt revealed to reporters during the SEC teleconference Wednesday.

Junior wide receiver Jordan Murphy and sophomore cornerback Terrell Bailey have decided to step away from the program and explore other opportunities, Pruitt said.

Murphy did not play in the season opener because he was sick, but caught 11 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore in 2018. Bailey, on the other hand, saw limited action during his time with the Volunteers.

The news comes after Tennessee started the season 0-1 after it was shockingly upset by Georgia State, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, last weekend. The Volunteers had not lost a game to a non-Power 5 conference team since 2008, when they fell to Wyoming, as noted by ESPN Stats and Info.

"I’m not blaming the kids," Pruitt told reporters at his postgame press conference after the loss. "Like I told the players in the locker room, everybody needs to look in the mirror, because it’s what I’m going to do and say, ‘What can I do better for our football team?’ And I’m going to start with me.”
