USA men’s basketball is not invincible. That’s OK Given the circumstances with the roster, it’s really fine if Team USA doesn’t win all the time.

Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has complimented the charisma and character of Celtics point guard Kemba Walker before but it seems that what Stevens sees different about his newest point guard is that the charitable Kemba “plays with a smile.”.

Kemba Walker has long stood out in Brad Stevens ’ memory, including the occasional bad dream. That alone had to be a relief for the coach Sunday night Walker ’s most prolific swing last season came partially at the Celtics’ expense, when he followed up a career-high 60-point performance against

Speaking to The Crossover's Justin Barrasso, Stevens says that "there is a contagiousness to [Kemba] that will be fun."

"The way I feel about Kemba, even through his UConn days, is that he plays with a smile," Stevens said. "There is a contagiousness to him that will be fun. There is a lot on his plate, and we've had really good point guards-[Rajon] Rondo, Isaiah [Thomas], who was incredible and had that year in 2016-17 that was ridiculous, and Kyrie was second team All-NBA this year and would've been All-NBA last year if he hadn't got hurt at the end. Our point guards are asked to do a lot, but we're awfully glad Kemba is here."

Head coach Brad Stevens , though, wasn’t the biggest fan of his big man cracking the leaderboard, saying he didn’t “love it.” At the end of the day there’s so much subjectivity in that,” he said. “… Certainly, the 12 guys that get voted on always are deserving, but there’s also eight more that are too.

Brad Stevens said he ’s gone for walks, but hasn’t been in his car other to move it into a new spot in 16 days. “My thoughts are with everybody who’s really facing this thing. While Stevens may not have had much luck with the new wrinkle afforded coaches in the 2019-20 NBA season, with a little luck

His personality has been discussed far more than his basketball prowess but perhaps that's an indication of how impressive it is to be enveloped by his aura.

Well-regarded as a leader in the locker room and the Charlotte community prior to signing with Boston, Walker's prominent position on Team USA has given Celtics fans the opportunity to take a closer look at his leadership and how his persona permeates a team.

Not only has Walker been Team USA's most consistent producer throughout the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup - his shiftiness, ball-handling and shooting touch allowing him to make sensational plays with ease - but he's also consistently found positives from the team's performances, even when it's been obvious that they were playing below the standard Team USA is held to.

USA Basketball’s First Win at the FIBA World Cup Was Boring, And That’s a Good Thing

USA Basketball’s First Win at the FIBA World Cup Was Boring, And That’s a Good Thing USA Basketball's opening group match was quite literally a snoozer but that doesn't mean there wasn't some bright spots.

Kemba Walker is “super excited” to be a Boston Celtic. “Coach Stevens , who’s a great coach, has had a lot of success in this league as a head coach. Walker has been getting along well with his teammates so far. He called Jaylen Brown “down to Earth” and spent time with Jayson Tatum in Paris

It may be no coincidence then that it's the same attitude that's been displayed by teammates Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum, among others, when assessing the team's progress.

If what's been transpiring during the World Cup is any indicator of what the future holds for Boston, their locker room will be far less likely to have the type of tensions that existed last season.

Where Kyrie Irving is mercurial, at times even aloof, Walker is seemingly always amiable and engaging. For a team that's undergone so much change in such a short time and will have their share of ups and downs next season, as every team but especially teams with a lack of familiarity with one another face, Walker's approach will fortify the locker room in ways that last season's roster could only dream of.

It won't just be Kemba that will have a dramatic impact on the locker room though, as players like rookie forward Grant Williams and veteran center Enes Kanter are extremely friendly (and equally competitive) people who will do their best to unify the locker room every chance they get. The players they're replacing - Marcus Morris and Al Horford - were solid locker room influences too but Morris' gritty outlook has been replaced by Williams' goofiness and Horford's quiet leadership has been replaced by a very vocal Kanter.

Team USA crushes Japan at FIBA World Cup to set up showdown against Giannis Antetokounmpo, Greece Maybe it was the trademark ankle-breaking, step-back crossover Kemba Walker unleashed. Or maybe it was the open-court steal that led to Jaylen Brown’s highlight-reel windmill. Or maybe it was a behind-the-back to crossover to hesitation sequence from Walker that led to a no-look dime to Khris Middleton in transition. Or maybe it was Brown’s physics defying poster tomahawk over a defender who had no business jumping in the first place. © Ng Han GuanYou can pick any play from start to finish of Team USA’s rout of Japan in FIBA World Cup group play on Thursday.

Next season will be one of the more interesting in recent memory considering all of the changes that the Celtics have undergone this summer and, hoping to capitalize on the renewed parity seen throughout the NBA landscape, Walker's effect on Boston's locker room will be a storyline to follow all season.
