Gamblers and football fans who peruse the betting lines for this weekend’s games will undoubtedly see two big numbers jump out. At most bookmakers, the Cowboys were 21½-point favorites over the Dolphins on Wednesday afternoon. And the Patriots were 23-point favorites over the Jets.

Following their victory in Super Bowl XXXVI seven months earlier, the Patriots played their first game in the new Gillette Stadium in the NFL 's prime-time After an additional two wins to begin the season, including a 44–7 road win against the division rival New York Jets, the team lost five of its next seven

Alright, look: If you want to throw a bunch of money at both the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys to cover the spread - which I did in our weekly picks - it comes with some risk.

The Pats are a minus-22.5 favorite to beat the New York Jets, and the Dallas Cowboys are at minus-21.5 to beat the tanking Miami Dolphins. Yet the last time this happened in 1987, per Odds Shark, both teams won but didn't cover.

But what if you could bet on just those two EXTREMELY heavy favorites just to win? That feels like free money, doesn't it?

That appears to be the mentality from one gambler, who bet $89,000 (!!!!!) on a two-team money-line parlay on the Patriots and Cowboys. The bet would net $4,500:

Sam Darnold will miss ‘multiple games’ with mono

Sam Darnold will miss ‘multiple games’ with mono Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold will miss multiple games with mono, coach Adam Gase said Thursday. Trevor Siemian will start Monday night against the Browns. This means that Darnold will also miss the Week 3 matchup at the Patriots, at a minimum. The Jets have a bye in Week 4 before visiting the Eagles in Week 5. The Jets’ early schedule is brutal. After the Browns game, they have four straight games against the Patriots, Eagles, Cowboys, and Patriots. Darnold went 28-41 for 175 yards and a touchdown in a Week 1 loss to the Bills. This is a developing story and will be updated.

While Denver's No Fly Zone always makes passing the ball a tall order, the Broncos will have to keep their attention on the ground as Ezekiel Elliott looks to run

In honor of Super Tuesday the NFL presents Super Bowl XII, the Dallas Cowboys dominate the Denver Broncos. 7:11 R. White sacks C. Morton for loss of 11

Weirder thing have happened in the NFL, but I'm going to go ahead and say that's brilliant, even though it requires having $89,000 at your disposal to bet.

Someone else did the same thing with $1,000, which would only result in a win of $45 … so, um, free expensive dinner!
