Mats Zuccarello scored the deciding goal and had two assists to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night in NHL preseason play in St. Paul, Minnesota. Zuccarello, signed to five-year, $30 million free agent contract by the Wild on July 1, assisted on goals by Jason Zucker and Eric Staal in the second period. Matt Dumba also scored for Minnesota, and Devan Dubnyk had 30 saves. Ty Lewis, Jayson Megna and Conor Timmins scored for Colorado, and Pavel Francouz stopped 22 shots.The game was Wild captain Mikko Koivu's first since last February, when he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee.

The Capitals selected Samsonov with 22nd overall pick in 2015. He's one of just seven goaltenders this decade to be chosen in the opening round of the draft.
Samsonov allowed three goals on 28 shots over two preseason starts for the Capitals.
In 2018-19, the 22-year-old appeared in 37 contests for the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears, posting a 20-14-2 record with a 2.70 goals-against average, an .898 save percentage, and three shutouts.
Samsonov has been sensational for Russia on the international stage, helping the nation capture a silver medal at the 2016 World Junior Championship and a bronze in 2017.

Mathew Barzel then tied the game at 19:33 off a scramble in front with Islanders netminder Thomas Greiss pulled for an extra attacker. Defenseman Johnny Boychuk, who kept the puck in the zone, had the lone assist.That set the stage for Toews' goal -- his second of the season -- on which Barzal and Nelson had the assists.
