Alibaba unveils its own AI chip for cloud computing

Alibaba unveils its own AI chip for cloud computing Apparently, Huawei isn't the only Chinese mega-corporation that was developing its own AI chip. Alibaba has unveiled an in-house-designed AI chip called the Hanguang 800 a month after Huawei launched the Ascend 910. The company, mostly known for its e-commerce business, said the chip could significantly cut down on the time needed to finish machine learning tasks. For example: Alibaba-owned shopping website Taobao takes an hour to categorize the one billion product images sellers upload on the platform. With the the new chip, that task would apparently be done in five minutes.

In an ad posted Monday, the fan said they're selling a "used Chip Kelly in broken condition" for $9 million or best offer.

"This antique might still have some value as a fun Christmas present for your ailing, desperate, and gullible football program," the ad reads. "It comes pre-loaded with 100 snarky quotes like 'The wishbone was successful too' and 'We're just trying to have a good Monday.' However, after nearly two years, we haven't gotten the most important parts of it to work.

Facebook experiments with hiding "like" counts

Facebook experiments with hiding The social network is testing a feature that will hide likes, video view counts and other metrics in the news feedFacebook is testing an effort to hide the public "like" counter on posts in the news feed, it said on Thursday. The change applies to posts from friends and pages as well as paid ads. The experiment is running only in Australia for now, with Facebook saying it is unsure if it will expand to other countries.

"Its previous owners were also dissatisfied with it and we thought it'd need a good home and some TLC. It turns out that it is broken beyond repair, so we are selling AS-IS and for PARTS ONLY. We imagine you can find some workable pieces in here if you are looking for five-tight-end play designs and are in need of tearing down your roster to its bones."

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in helping UCLA end an 11-year drought against Stanford with a 34-16 victory over the Cardinal on Thursday. Jack West became Stanford's third different starting quarterback of the season, the first time that's happened since 1974. After early success, his inconsistent play led to a stalled offense. Thompson-Robinson passed for 192 yards and rushed for 66 as UCLA snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Cardinal, dating to 2008. Joshua Kelley rushed for 176 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown run and a 53-yard gain.
