"I look around, he's not here, not asking me questions," Popovich said. "He's not telling me what to do. I miss him big time."

With Buford's promotion, the Spurs elevated Brian Wright to GM after three years as an assistant GM.

"Brian Wright has been trained very well by R.C.," Popovich said. "He's going to do a fantastic job. Brian's a great mind. He's been heer for a few years now. He understands how we do stuff. He hit the ground running, for sure."

Still, things won't be the same, Popovich reiterated.

"Brian and I will never have the continuity I had with R.C., 'cause I'm 70," Popovich joked. "I would like to make the announcement that I will not be here for 20 more years."

Police are investigating an incident between an off-duty officer and another driver that led to gunfire and a crash in the Clear Lake area overnight. According to the Houston Police Department, it was about 9 p.m. Tuesday when an off-duty officer from the Liverpool Police Department called 911 to report his vehicle was struck from behind by another vehicle on Dixie Farm Road. The officer followed the woman who hit his car until they stopped along I-45 at FM 2351. The officer approached the woman’s vehicle with his gun out, showing his badge and stating he was a police officer.
