Nelson was hit by two foul balls during the game — one in the face mask and another in the left shoulder. He felt dinged up afterward and said he would need a water break between innings. He later decided to check out of the game and was replaced behind the plate by Kerwin Danley.

The delay lasted nearly 20 minutes before the top of the fifth began. Danley had to put all the proper gear on to umpire behind the plate.

FS1 later shared that Nelson had suffered a concussion.
