The momentum of the game turned midway through the third quarter when the Panthers (5-3) converted a fake punt on fourth-and-4 from their 36-yard line. The decision came after the Titans had opened the second half with an impressive touchdown drive to cut Carolina's lead to 17-7 and then stopped the Panthers on three plays to force a punting situation.

Sneaky reason why Ravens, not Patriots, are AFC's best

Sneaky reason why Ravens, not Patriots, are AFC's best In addition to MVP candidate Lamar Jackson, the Ravens' improving defense gives them an edge, Chris Mueller writes. What the Ravens did to the Patriots on Sunday night in a 37-20 win opened my eyes. I’m officially a Ravens convert, and while quarterback Lamar Jackson continues to impress and must be mentioned in any MVP discussion, he’s not the only reason John Harbaugh’s bunch is the team to beat in the AFC.

But when Colin Jones took the direct snap and ran for the first down on the fake punt it ignited the Panthers.

McCaffrey completed the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and then added a 58-yard burst midway through the fourth quarter for his 13th touchdown of the season. However, he hit his head after being dragged down as he crossed the goal line. He was evaluated for a concussion and medically cleared to return, but never did.

Carolina's defense set the tone early.

Donte Jackson intercepted Tannehill on a tipped pass, giving Carolina the ball at the Tennessee 15. On a fourth-and-2, Panthers coach Ron Rivera went for it and McCaffrey slipped out of the backfield untouched and hauled in an easy 7-yard touchdown for a 10-0 lead. Allen went 8 of 8 on Carolina's final drive before halftime, culminating with a 12-yard pass to Samuel to give Carolina a 17-0 halftime lead.

Derrick Henry, who had just two carries in the first half, finished with 99 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns for the Titans (4-5).

McCaffrey's unforgettable season being wasted by these forgettable Panthers .
You've seen it before: A bad movie where one talented actor is trying his best to salvage some terrible material. That’s what it looked like Sunday: Carolina’s 29-3 loss to Atlanta was the bad film, and Christian McCaffrey the actor who deserved better.RELATED: Panthers loseThe Panthers are in serious danger of wasting one of the greatest individual years any of their players have ever had. McCaffrey went over 1,000 rushing yards for the season in the Panthers’ 10th game of the year and, at his current pace, the third-year running back will end up with a staggering 2,522 total yards from scrimmage.
