Report: Waiters had seizure on team plane after overdosing on 'gummies'

Report: Waiters had seizure on team plane after overdosing on 'gummies' Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters had a seizure on the team plane after overdosing on "gummies," Fox Sports 640's Andy Slater reports. Waiters, who's yet to appear in a game this season, was listed out for Friday's contest against the Los Angeles Lakers due to illness. The 27-year-old missed Thursday's game against the Phoenix Suns with what the Heat labeled as a "stomachache." The Heat suspended Waiters for the opening game of the campaign due to "unprofessional conduct," then left him back in Miami to work on his conditioning during a two-game road trip.

On Friday night, Andy Slater, a host on 640AM South Florida, reported that a Miami Heat player had a medical emergency on the team’s flight from Phoenix to L.A. The Heat lost on Friday night to the Lakers, and Waiters did not play due to illness.

Slater later reported that Waiters overdosed on “gummies,” passed out and had a seizure when he woke up.

Waiters’ mother Monique Brown posted on her Instagram Story to tell people not to believe the “rumors” and that the media will report “fake news.” She said “none of that mess is true.”

Report: Heat guard Dion Waiters suffers panic attack after consuming THC edible

Report: Heat guard Dion Waiters suffers panic attack after consuming THC edible Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters had a panic attack after eating a THC-infused edible while on team flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles to play Lakers.ESPN reported Waiters had a panic attack on the team charter flight Thursday night after taking an edible infused with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, which is prohibited in the NBA.

Here’s what we know is factual: Waiters was suspended for the season opener due to conduct detrimental to the team and did not make the team’s road trip to begin the season. He has not played at all this season and was listed as out for Friday’s game due to illness.

The 27-year-old is in the third year of a four-year contract and has only played in 74 games the past two seasons. He complained about playing time last season as he returned from an ankle injury.

Facebook nixes billions of fake accounts .
Facebook on Wednesday said it has nixed 5.4 billion fake accounts already this year, in a sign of a persistent battle on social media against manipulation and disinformation. Facebook believes that fake accounts -- where someone pretends to be a person or entity which does not exist -- represented about five percent of its worldwide month active users during the second and third quarters of this year. "We have improved our ability to detect and block attempts to create fake, abusive accounts," the internet firm said in its latest transparency report.
