Report: Clippers targeting next week for PG's return

Report: Clippers targeting next week for PG's return There appears to be a bit more clarity regarding Paul George's long-awaited Los Angeles Clippers debut. The Clippers are targeting one of their games in next week's back-to-back set against the Houston Rockets (Nov. 13) and New Orleans Pelicans (Nov. 14) for George's return, league sources told The Athletic's Sam Amick. If the six-time All-Star plays against the Rockets, he's not expected to suit up against the Pelicans, reports Amick. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, George will suit up for his new team when it embarks on a two-game road trip later this week. That could come as early as Wednesday against the Houston Rockets or during Thursday’s outing in New Orleans.

George had offseason surgery on both shoulders and has been frustrated about his rehab process.

Acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a blockbuster trade this past July, George joins Kawhi Leonard on a 7-3 Clippers team that has manhandled opponents through the early stages of the season.

The six-time All-Star averaged a career-best 28.0 points to go with 8.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Thunder last season.

Given that this road trip represents a back-to-back, it will be interesting to see when George returns to the court. Remember, Leonard himself is not playing on back-to-back nights. He’ll sit out one of the two outings.

If Paul George continues to hit clutch shots, the Clippers will be unstoppable .
Paul George hit a go-ahead shot with 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift the Clippers to a 90-88 win over his former Oklahoma City Thunder team on Monday night. The shot wasn’t only significant because it came against the team he forced himself away from in a trade over the summer — it was the same shot he’d struggled with in previous years. George had never historically been considered clutch, and for good reason: Prior to the start of the 2018-19 season, he was 1-for-12 on go-ahead threes in the final 30 seconds of regulation or in overtime.
