Baldelli received 13 of 30 first-place AL votes in the Baseball Writers' Association of America balloting and a total of 106 points, while Shildt had 10 first-place votes and 95 total points in the NL.

At 38, Baldelli is baseball's youngest manager and led the Twins to 101 wins and the Al Central crown in his debut season. He oversaw a 23-game turnaround from 2018, marking the first time the Twins won 100 games in a season since 1965.
