Reports: Knicks trying to hire Raptors president Masai Ujiri, could fire coach David Fizdale

Reports: Knicks trying to hire Raptors president Masai Ujiri, could fire coach David Fizdale This isn't the first time the Knicks have been linked to Ujiri. Running the Nuggets, Ujiri famously outmaneuvered Dolan with the Carmelo Anthony trade. Then, with Toronto, Ujiri fleeced the Knicks with the Andrea Bargnani trade. Dolan was so shook, he later vetoed a trade for Kyle Lowry in fear of getting worked again by Ujiri. That’s the type of executive a team should covet.Dolan has spent big – just often on the wrong people. Phil Jackson, who had no executive experience, is the prime example.Ujiri has proven he can assemble a championship team. He can manage an organization, completely.

Ernest Maurice " Kiki " VanDeWeghe III (born August 1, 1958) is an American basketball executive . He serves as the Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations of the National Basketball Association ( NBA ).

The NBA announced today that Kiki VanDeWeghe has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. VanDeWeghe and Mike Bantom, Executive Vice President, Referee Operations, will both report Team USA was not interested in relaunching Carmelo Anthony's career.

The New York Knicks definitely seem to need new leadership, and they may have to look no further than the league office in order to find it.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported this week that Kiki VanDeWeghe, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, is interested in the Knicks’ president job if incumbent Steve Mills is fired.

Bondy also lists Daryl Morey, Trajan Langdon and Sam Hinkie as other potential targets but has VanDeWeghe as the only one with confirmed interest.

The 3-9 Knicks are quickly going down the tubes again for what feels like the umpteenth straight year, leading to renewed calls for a front office overhaul. Two bigger targets were also mentioned earlier this week, but VanDeWeghe appears to be the first one who is actually interested in taking over the circus.

Knicks Official PR Account Insists No, They Did Not Offer Richard Jefferson a Contract .
Richard Jefferson gave everyone a good laugh on Sunday evening during a Nets broadcast when he said the Knicks were the only team to offer him a contract after his final NBA season, and that was when he knew it was time to retire. Well, the Knicks did not appreciate Jefferson dunking on them in such a public manner. So much, in fact, that they took to their official Public Relations account to clarify the situation.
