Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza agrees to manage Team Italy
Baseball Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza, a 12-time All-Star, will manage Italian national baseball team for its upcoming international tournaments.On Wednesday, the Baseball Hall of Fame catcher announced he has agreed to manage the Italian national baseball team. The deal, Piazza said, involves him managing Team Italy at the European Baseball Championship in 2020 and in the World Baseball Classic the following year.

The Los Angeles Angels are getting some good news ahead of winter meetings.
Angels GM Billy Eppler said on Tuesday that two-way star Shohei Ohtani has been cleared to begin throwing off a mound,. Eppler added that Ohtani will do so for about three to four weeks, after which his rehab from Tommy John surgery will be complete.
The 25-year-old Ohtani, who had the procedure on his right throwing elbow in Sept. 2018, played exclusively as a hitter last year, batting .286 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 106 games. He was 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 10 starts during his lone season thus far as an Angels pitcher in 2018.

2nd officer relieved of duties amid investigation into body-slamming incident .
Two Chicago officers have been relieved of duty following a video that showed one of them body-slamming a man. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability opened an investigation into the Nov. 28 incident last week and recommended that the officer who was seen throwing the man to the ground be relieved of his police powers until the case is closed.
