Neither player saw the field for Scott Frost’s Cornhuskers this season. The reasoning behind their suspensions was not known until Thursday.
ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” recently ran an in-depth report that indicates the two are alleged to have committed sexual assault inside of a Lincoln apartment in August.
While no criminal charges have been filed, local authorities note that there’s an ongoing investigation.
“A woman reported an incident to the Lincoln Police Department the night it happened, according to Nebraska’s findings and a police report obtained by Outside the Lines,”. “The police report notes only that a rape was reported at an off-campus apartment on the evening of Aug. 25. Lincoln Police Capt. Ryan Dale said Thursday that there was an open investigation and he could not provide any further details.”
In addition to possible criminal charges, the two face a 2.5-year ban from Nebraska under the umbrella of the school’s sexual misconduct policy.
“The report issued Wednesday states that the ’greater weight of the evidence' supported that the two men ‘engaged in sexual assault and sexual harassment, in violation of university sexual misconduct policies’ in an Aug. 25 incident at their off-campus apartment,” the OTL report read.
