Bruce Arians on Jameis Winston: Wait until season’s over and then make decision
One of the storylines for the 2019 Buccaneers season was the team’s pending decision about whether or not they see a future for quarterback Jameis Winston with the organization. Head coach Bruce Arians’s hiring was seen as a way to try to get more out of Winston than they’d gotten over his first four seasons, [more]
It took until Jameis Winston hit the 22-interception mark this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make a QB change.
Winston threw two more picks Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and was replaced on the Bucs’ first possession of the second half.
No injury has yet been announced. Backup Ryan Griffin entered the game at the 12:02 mark of the third quarter with the Bucs trailing the Colts, 27-21.
Winston throws for 456 yards, 4 TDs as Bucs rally over Colts
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Jameis Winston threw for 456 yards and four touchdowns, helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rally to beat the reeling Indianapolis Colts 38-35 on Sunday. Winston overcame throwing three more interceptions and having one returned for a TD for the fifth time season to wipe out a 14-point , second-half deficit. He led the Bucs (6-7) to their third straight win and fourth in five games. The Colts (6-7) have dropped five of six following a 5-2 start, falling from first place to third in the AFC South.

Winston actually led an 11-play, 75-yard TD drive before the half. But his two picks — one run back 80 yards for a pick-six — were apparently enough for Bruce Arians to make a change.
Griffin has been in the league since 2014 but had not attempted a regular-season pass until this game. He completed his first two attempts before misfiring on his next two.

Jameis Winston can't help himself, and clearly the Bucs can't either .
TAMPA — He whipped the Falcons in a down year. The Jaguars were a mess. The Colts looked to be a challenge, but with Indianapolis .500 at the time, it meant they were just turning in circles. The Lions were toothless at quarterback with rookie David Blough. Jameis Winston was good enough to beat those teams, interceptions and all. At times, his performance was unbelievable. But now we are starting to realize it is also unsustainable. If the Bucs’ 23-20 loss Saturday to the Texans taught us anything, it is that.Good teams will beat bad quarterback play, and that’s what happened again.
