Joe Montana warns Tom Brady: Don't leave Patriots 'if you don't have to' Hall of fame signal-caller Joe Montana knows the difficulties of changing teams following a historic career with a single franchise, a transition New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady could face this offseason. "It's not easy to go to another team and get accepted, no matter how much success you've had and how many years you've played," Montana told NFL.com's Michael Silver. "They still want to see you come in and be the same player and be that loyal to them as you were to the other team you just left. So, it's not easy (for) guys looking at that change, especially at the quarterback position.

The Patriots believe the Los Angeles Chargers are the only real option for Brady outside of New England, according to Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal. There have been other teams mentioned as potential players in the Brady sweepstakes, but are any of them realistic options?

There has been a lot of buzz about Brady potentially becoming the face of the Raiders in their new Las Vegas stadium, but Bedard does not see Brady wanting to start fresh in Jon Gruden’s offense with “all that verbiage.” The Titans have also been mentioned in connection with Brady, but Brady reportedly told some of his teammates during the Patriots’ joint practices with Tennessee that he thought the Titans’ offensive system was “laughable.”

It seems everyone has an opinion on Brady’s future

It seems everyone has an opinion on Brady’s future Tom Brady will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time if he and the Patriots can’t agree on a new contract before 4 p.m. on March 17. At that point, his contract will void, making him free to sign with any team that he chooses — the Patriots or otherwise.Gronkowski said Tuesday that he believes Brady will explore his options — though that doesn’t necessarily mean Brady will make his decision after March 17. Brady could have a good idea a few days or weeks before the deadline of how serious it would be to play for the Chargers, Raiders, Titans or any number of teams who may be interested.

Tom Brady is getting a contract adjustment, and can reportedly earn an addition Via ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots are making adjustments to Brady ’s contract, adding incentives that will allow Brady signed a two-year contract extension in 2016 which expires at the end of the 2019 league year.

What about the Miami Dolphins? If Brady leaves the Patriots, he will almost certainly want to sign with a team that is a quarterback away from championship contention. Even he has to know that he couldn’t elevate the Dolphins that much at this stage in his career. There have been some rumors about Brady potentially wanting an ownership stake in an NFL franchise after he retires and the Dolphins being open to that arrangement, but that seems farfetched.

That leaves the Chargers, who have reportedly decided to move on from Philip Rivers and have some talented offensive pieces in place. They’re also moving to a brand new stadium in Los Angeles, and they could offer Brady endless new endorsement opportunities.

Brady has opted to troll fans on social media rather than giving any hints about his future. There have been some positive signs for Patriots fans over the past couple of weeks, but the situation will become more complicated the longer it drags out.
