Five-time national champion head coach Nick Saban is buying quarterback Deshaun Watson's stock, and the Alabama mastermind suggested ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft that others do the same.

Stop overthinking these 2017 NFL draft prospects

Stop overthinking these 2017 NFL draft prospects These five prospects in the 2017 NFL draft are just as good as we thought they were months ago. “There’s no doubt ,” Watson said, via ESPN.com. Watson said the “future is bright” for the Texans despite how things ended on Sunday, although it might take some more time for others to shake off the clouds that descended on the team after the first quarter.

"It's really sort of mind-boggling to me that people are having concerns about his future," Saban said on ESPN's "SportsCenter," according to Grace Raynor of the Post and Courier.

Saban faced Watson twice during the quarterback's career at Clemson, and watched his vaunted defense get carved up both times. Their meetings took place in the 2016 and 2017 national championship games, in which Watson accounted for 825 passing yards, 116 rushing yards, and eight touchdowns.

Saban said moments later on NFL Network that Watson is the "most dominant player" his team faced over the last two years.

The two-time Heisman Trophy finalist's draft stock has fluctuated in recent weeks. Watson said it'll be "a slap in the face" if he's selected behind North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky on Thursday night.

Saban admits he'll 'never get over' title-game loss to Clemson

Saban admits he'll 'never get over' title-game loss to Clemson It's been four months since Clemson beat Alabama with a last-second touchdown to win the national championship, but that doesn't mean head coach Nick Saban has forgotten about it. "I'll never get over it because you never do with those kind of losses," Saban told Chris Low of ESPN. "I never got over the returned field goal at Auburn. I never got over playing poorly against Ohio State and losing that game late. And then in this game, we didn't play very well, and Clemson did when they had to.

Did somebody kidnap the Deshaun Watson who unleashed on Saban 's D a year ago? Deshaun Watson just doesn't have it tonight. Badly missed 2 deep throws that were there. This is Skip going full Skip and taking whatever side of things pisses people off the most.

Biggest needs in the draft for every NFL team

Bama vs. The Field: The No. 1 Debate .
With spring practice finished, college football is entering the quietest time of the offseason, a time inevitably spent overthinking preseason rankings for several months. For all the analysis, the top shouldn't require much thinking, though: Pick Alabama. For a couple years, defending champion Florida State and Ohio State teams that returned everybody, including their quarterbacks, were obvious No. 1 choices. But when there is not a clear favorite outside Tuscaloosa, the debate reverts to a conundrum: Someone other than Alabama will probably win college football's national championship, and yet picking anyone other than Alabama as the preseason No. 1 feels foolish.
