Cuban: NBA should permanently move start of season to Christmas Day

Cuban: NBA should permanently move start of season to Christmas Day Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is the latest NBA figure to promote the idea of permanently moving the start of the season to Christmas Day. "I've been saying that for 15 years," Cuban said. "I've been saying that for 15 years," Cuban said on the "Pardon My Take" podcast. "And the reason I've been getting shot down is, there's this thing called HUT (households using televisions). And during the summer, that drops. ... In the past, that was a big deal. So you wanted to end (the NBA season) by June so you could maximize the people watching TV.

The New York Knicks have officially traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, the teams announced on Thursday night. Porzingis , who will become a restricted free agent this summer, reportedly plans to sign the qualifying offer with Dallas, which would set the stage for him to become

In an interview on Wednesday, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he was stunned when former Knick Kristaps Porzingis was made available via trade in 2019. New York traded Porzingis , upon his request, in an effort to open up enough cap space for two max players.

The Kristaps Porzingis trade was a shocker when it first happened, and the team that ended up acquiring him even thought so too apparently.

Appearing this week on WFAN’s “Moose and Maggie,” Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban discussed his team’s move for Porzingis and admitted that he was taken aback when the New York Knicks offered their 7-foot-3 star.

“Very,” said Cuban when asked how stunned he was to receive the offer. The Mavs owner continued:

“It happens in the NBA. It’s like the James Harden trade. Harden gets traded from OKC to the Rockets and I’m like, damn, why didn’t we even get that offered to us? We weren’t in the mix. Nobody was. It was one phone call and the Rockets said yes. [The Porzingis trade] was our one phone call.

Could the Knicks look to make a trade for guard Chris Paul?

Could the Knicks look to make a trade for guard Chris Paul? Paul was playing at a high level before the 2019-20 season was suspended. The 10-time All-Star is averaging 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists. Any move to acquire Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder would require New York giving up at least one of its first-round picks, likely the one acquired in the Marcus Morris trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports. NBA Trade Deadline. Kristaps Porzingis trade to Mavericks: Everything you need The trade sends Porzingis , Trey Burke, Courtney Lee, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to Dallas in exchange for He’s also a restricted free agent this summer and is making noise about taking the qualifying offer so he can

The Kristaps Porzingis trade seemed abrupt. Mills and Knicks president Scott Perry met with Porzingis and his brother/manager Janis on the morning of Jan. Porzingis also no-commented when the New York Post’s Marc Berman asked about his relationship with the New York front office

“We already had those conversations before. GMs talk all the time. We’re willing to do this if you ever want to give him up. … We used to get calls on Dirk [Nowitzki] ‘We’ll give you A,B,C,D,E and F,’ But we’re not trading Dirk ever. [They said], ‘Well, if you do.’ In this case, [the Knicks] changed their mind.”

The Mavs ended up acquiring Porzingis, already a rising All-Star and potential franchise centerpiece when the trade happened in early 2019, for a package based around DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and a pair of first-round picks. Also sent to Dallas were Trey Burke, Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr., who was the Mavs’ third-leading scorer this season.

While Porzingis was nursing a torn ACL at the time and had been clashing with the Knicks front office, the trade does not look any better for them in hindsight. As for the Mavs, to land a one-of-a-kind star like Porzingis less than a year after drafting another generational talent in Luka Doncic is a touch of good fortune that does not come along too often. If you ask the rest of the NBA too, they were just as surprised as Cuban that Porzingis was available.

Trump - currently don't feel like talking to Xi .
Washington, May 14 (Reuters) - There is no relief in sight in the dispute between the United States and China. US President Donald Trump told Fox News on Thursday that he was very disappointed that China had not contained the corona virus. Covid-19 comes from the People's Republic and Beijing could have stopped it. That casts a shadow over his trade deal with China. The ink under the contract was hardly dry, since the virus had already come.
