I’ve struggled all week to manage my emotions and I keep thinking of the families of those who’ve passed and their grief, I know they have it the hardest. They are the first and last thing I think of these days. Please keep them in your prayers, I know they will always be in mine.”

“It has not processed yet,” Brandon Lartigue told the Chronicle last week. “We’re dealing with a lot of things right now because it’s unexpected — the death of someone who had a lot of promise in life.”

Lartique and Hersi were not related and neither was related to Crawford.

Bethany Lartigue’s football team, the Arlington Impact, said they plan to retire her number.

“We know you have found eternal peace,” the Women’s Football Alliance team wrote on Facebook. “Your soul touched us all! You were our solider, teammate, friend & SISTER!”

Crawford, 38, retired in 2016 after 15 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.
