Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas will play on Sunday against the Wizards in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Thomas traveled to Tacoma, Wash., late Friday night so he could attend his younger sister’s funeral on Saturday. He returned late Saturday night.

“He’s back,” coach Brad Stevens said before Sunday’s tipoff. “He’s ready to play.”

Stevens said his discussions with Thomas on Saturday weren’t about hoops, but instead about how hard it is to speak at a funeral.

Chyna Thomas, 22, was killed in a one-car crash in Federal Way, Wash., on April 15. Isaiah Thomas returned home to be with his family after the Celtics’ Game 2 first-round loss to the Bulls, although the team is undefeated since.

As for Sunday’s starting lineup, Stevens said he is sticking with Gerald Green as a starter because he said he liked how that group flew around defensively and was quick to ball.

Tipoff is at 1 p.m. and the game will air on ABC.
