The Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam have extended the contract with former Bundesliga top scorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar by one year until June 30, 2021. The club announced on Monday.

"I no longer see myself in another jersey", the 36-year-old ex-Schalke is quoted on the club's homepage: "I feel fit, I like to come to the club and I am sure that I can still make a contribution . " Sports director Marc Overmars also confirmed that "they also talked about the future and other roles for him at Ajax".

Ex-Schalke Huntelaar has played for Ajax in 243 games so far, scoring 151 goals and winning the club in 2019. This year the season in the Eredivisie was prematurely stopped due to the corona pandemic, a champion was not chosen.
