ESPN’s Doris Burke opens up about COVID-19 struggle, NBA’s resumption concerns
When asked about the challenges the NBA will face as it attempts to mount a comeback next month, Burke didn’t mince words.“The thing that I felt the most was fatigue and headache,” Burke said about having coronavirus. “So for a good stretch of the first two weeks of that, I was just thinking I had a bad flu, because my symptoms were not aligning with what was being told were the main symptoms — the shortness of breath, the pressure on the chest — I didn’t have those scary symptoms. So for a good stretch of time, I didn’t think I had it. But then I finally decided to get tested.

Petr Yan and Jose Aldo square off in a bantamweight bout for the vacant title on the main card Saturday at UFC 251 at the UFC’s “Fight Island” facility on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The prelims kick off at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN/, followed by the main card set for 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view.
Yan (14-1) might have a three-inch disadvantage in reach, but that’s about the only shortcoming here. The switch-stance fighter has a sizable 5.65 to 3.47 advantage in significant strikes landed per minute, and 1.73 to 0.64 in takedown average. Yan is coming off a TKO win in Round 3 against Urijah Faber last time out at UFC 245, and is 6-0 at the UFC level with three KO/TKO victories and three wins by unanimous decision, too. The only setback of his career came at ACB 32, a split decision loss to Magomed Magomedov in March, 2016.
Triple Take: Which UFC 'Fight Island' title fight has the greatest stakes?
The UFC has a busy July stretch in store as the four-event "Fight Island" showcase in Abu Dhabi is set to take center stage in the MMA world. Four championship bouts are scheduled, with Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns (welterweight title), Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max…Although every bout with UFC gold on the line has a high level of significance, not all are built the same. MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, Farah Hannoun and Simon Samano debate which title affair on “Fight Island” has the most meaning in the latest edition of Triple Take.
The veteran Aldo (28-6), coming off a split decision loss to Marlon Moraes at UFC 245, is just 3-5 in the previous eight outings with three knockout losses. In addition, five of his past eight fights have finished inside the distance, too.

Yan (-228) is a heavy favorite against the veteran Aldo (+185), and risking more than two times than your potential return is a bit of risky business, so you’ll need to be more specific. Rolling with YAN BY KO/TKO or DQ (+120) on the 7-way Method of Victory line is a better way to go. If you want to take YAN BY KO/TKO, DQ or SUBMISSION (+110) on the 5-way line, adding another route to a winning ticket, it won’t cost you much more.
NFL owners fear 2020 season could be canceled by worsening COVID-19 pandemic?
Just weeks before NFL players are set to report for training camp, the NFL Players Association is warning them that the 2020 season could be in jeopardy. They aren’t the only ones concerned a worsening COVID-19 pandemic could cancel the 2020 NFL season. © Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Despite the league's best efforts, concerns are growing among NFL owners about the prospects of playing the 2020 season. The NFL made its first significant change to the 2020 schedule by eliminating two preseason games.
UNDER 4.5 ROUNDS (-143) is a solid play, too, as Yan is a heavy hitter, ranking second among active bantamweights with 1.52 knockdowns per 15 minutes. Yan also has an impressive 2.5 striking differential. On the flip side, he is fifth among bantamweights with a 67.8 significant strike-defense percentage and 87.5 takedown-defense percentage. All of those stats point to a shorter fight and a Yan win.

Jorge Masvidal’s drawing power is clear after UFC 251. Now what can he do with it? | Opinion .
"This thing is trending off the charts. This thing is trending higher than a Conor McGregor fight. This thing is trending as big as a fight as I've ever seen in my entire career." When UFC president Dana White said this t he day before UFC 251, you figured he was just doing his job as a promoter. Not that Jorge Masvidal didn’t become the breakout star of 2019 (he certainly did), but when you start talking about the possibility for anyone’s fight to outdo Conor McGregor numbers, it’s hard to believe.
