The Lions added Stafford to the reserve/ COVID -19 list today, according to the league’ s transaction wire. That could either mean that Stafford himself tested positive or that he was exposed to someone who has COVID -19. There has been no word on whether Stafford actually has the virus.

(Reuters) - Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been placed on the COVID -19 reserve list , U. S . media reported on Wednesday. The 32-year-old can be activated off the reserve list once he receives medical clearance, which requires him to pass NFL Players' Association (NFLPA) treatment

Star Quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions from the NFL football league is no longer on the "Reserve / COVID-19 -List".

The team announced this in a statement. "To be clear, Matthew did not have COVID-19, it was an incorrect test result," the statement said. Since Stafford had two negative corona tests in a row, he is now allowed to participate in team activities again.

NFL teams must list players who have tested positive for Corona or have had close contact with such people. Due to an agreement between the NFL and the players union NFLPA, teams are not allowed to reveal why a player is on the list.

Since last week all 32 teams have been in preparation, the start of the NFL season is planned for September 10th. Due to the spread of the corona virus, the usual pre-season games have already been canceled. League boss Roger Goodell has not yet planned to set up a "bubble" like in the NBA or NHL.
