Sport Patriots use undrafted rookie CB Myles Bryant to emulate Seahawks QB Russell Wilson
Patriots-Seahawks 'Sunday Night Football' game in jeopardy?
Under the NFL’s guidelines, the league would relocate any game if the air quality index in the city it’s being played exceeds 200 AQI. As of Friday morning, per the EPA, Seattle’s AQI stands at 163.As we saw in Week 1, massive fires along the West Coast have resulted in cities like San Francisco, Portland and Seattle having some of the worst air quality in the world. The NFL monitored the troubling health conditions this past week, before allowing teams to play in California.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – On Wednesday, the Patriots promoted undrafted cornerback Myles Bryant up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. On Thursday, the rookie was running circles around the Patriots defense.
During the media’s practice availability, Bryant was emulating Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. The rookie could be seen scrambling in the backfield with Patriots pass rushers giving chase. Bryant would roll out to the right or left and keep moving before firing the football downfield.
Seahawks eyeing extension for head coach Pete Carroll?
The $11M salary he is currently earning ranks Carroll among the highest-paid coaches in the league, and an extension will likely push that figure even higher. Although there is some long-term uncertainty concerning club ownership, La Canfora says the Seahawks are at least three years away from going to market.Carroll and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick — who replaced Carroll as New England’s HC 20 years ago — will square off Sunday night and will set a record for the oldest combined age of head coaches in an NFL game.Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports.
Bryant rotated in and out of this drill with practice squad quarterback Jake Dolegala. He would do the same thing, scrambling to the right or left, but also stands 6-foot-7. Bryant, at 5-foot-9, was closer to the 5-foot-11 Wilson.
WEEK 2 PICKS:
The Patriots have been known to use defensive backs when emulating athletic quarterbacks. In 2018, Keion Crossen was used in practice to help the Patriots defense prepare for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Wilson has 4,022 career rushing yards, so the defense certainly will need to prepare for a mobile quarterback.
On Thursday, the Patriots had perfect practice attendance for the second day in a row. The first injury report had the team with six limited players – Julian Edelman (knee), N’Keal Harry (shoulder), Adam Butler (shoulder), Brandon Copeland (knee) and Jonathan Jones (foot).
Winners and losers from Seahawks’ thrilling win over Patriots
Russell Wilson's five touchdown passes lifted the Seahawks over the Patriots on Sunday night, but there were things to like and dislike on both sides of the field. As for Wilson and his Seattle Seahawks, last week’s blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons proved to be no fluke. Wilson is clicking big time. He talled five touchdown passes in Sunday night’s thrilling 35-30 win over New England that culminated in a goal-line stop by Seattle’s defense.
With Jones limited, it’s likely the Patriots wanted more depth at slot cornerback.

The officials immediately ejected Diggs for the helmet-to-helmet blow. Following the disqualification, Seattle turned to Marquise Blair as its replacement at free safety. Discipline is likely coming from the NFL for Diggs, with a massive fine likely arriving in his locker by Tuesday.Subscribe to Yardbarker's Morning Bark, the most comprehensive newsletter in sports.
