Even at 36 years old, Oregon native Tyson Nam is still looking to make a name for himself in the MMA world. After losing his first two UFC fights, Nam came out on top against Zarrukh Adashev back in June.

The bantamweight contender wanted to keep that streak going Saturday afternoon in the first prelim of the day against Jerome Rivera.

UFC Fight Night Covington-Woodley: Winners and losers

UFC Fight Night Covington-Woodley: Winners and losers Colby Covington was on a completely different level than his counterpart Saturday evening. Loser: Donald Cerrone-Niko Price bout ends in a draw © Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports The legendary Cowboy was riding a four-bout losing streak and was seemingly on his last legs. Cerrone was taking on a fighter in Niko Price coming off a difficult loss to Vicente Luque in UFC 249 this past May. Something had to give here, right? Sadly the answer to that question was a no. After an all-out effort by the two welterweight contenders, the bout ended in a majority draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28).

The initial punch was great. However, Nam’s ground-and-pound tactics forced this one to be called early in the second round. It was an impressive win for the Portland native.

On the other hand, this represented a loss for Rivera in his UFC debut. The New Mexico native was 10-2 in his professional career before Saturday.

Saturday’s slate of UFC action at the Apex in Vegas is headlined by Tyron Woodley taking on Colby Covington. If the first fight is any indication, it will be a fun Saturday night in the desert metropolis.

Political copy didn’t talk about the upcoming “battle” or any “fights to the death” or efforts to “torpedo” legislation. There were, after all, Americans dying on real battlefields and dodging live munitions. Politics, went the honorable thesis, was merely an argument.

Ron Rivera backing QB Dwayne Haskins after another rough outing for Washington .
Dwayne Haskins had a rough outing on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Washington Football Team quarterback threw three interceptions and had two fumbles in their 34-20 loss to the Cleveland Browns — which actually gave the Browns a winning record for the first time since 2014. Haskins finished the day having thrown 21-of-37 for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, Washington’s second-straight. The 23-year-old, who Washington took with the No. 15 overall pick in 2019, had the worst quarterback rating among any player in the league at 28.6 headed into Sunday and the 27th-worst total yards with just 401.
