San Francisco 49 ers defensive end Nick Bosa was carted off the field with what appears to be a left leg injury . Bosa , the reigning AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, had his left leg bent behind him at the end of a 4-yard run by Frank Gore with 6:22 left in the first quarter against the New York Jets.

It appears to be the same knee that saw Bosa tear his ACL as a member of Ohio State back in 2015. This obviously isn’t great news for the injury-plagued 49ers. The same first quarter also saw former No. 3 overall pick, defensive lineman Solomon Thomas, carted off the field with a knee injury.

This is just a continuation of major injury issues for the 49ers.

49ers injury report heading into Week 2

  • Deebo Samuel (out): The second-year receiver was placed on injured reserve ahead of the start of the season. He suffered a Jones fracture in his knee during offseason workouts. At the very least, Samuel is out for Week 3.
  • George Kittle (out): This recently-extended All-Pro tight end suffered a knee injury in Week 1’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He was ruled out for the Jets game, but is hoping to play next week against the New York Giants.
  • Richard Sherman (out): The future Hall of Fame cornerback was ruled out for Sunday’s game after suffering a calf injury in Week 1. As with Samuel, he was placed on injured reserve. Sherman is out for at least Week 3 and Week 4.

Obviously, the 49ers’ injury issues are a major backdrop as the team looks to rebound from their ugly Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
