Gareth Bale's agent has announced that the Welsh football star will play for Tottenham Hotspur beyond the season.

"I'm sure if things go well there is no problem," said player agent Jonathan Barnett on BBC Radio 4. "This is the club he wants to play for." The 31-year-old Bale joined Spurs for a season on loan from Real Madrid last week, for which he played from 2007 to 2013.

Bale had won 13 titles with Real, including four Champions League titles. Nevertheless, the Welshman was rarely used recently. "I don't want to blame anyone, but I think the way the fans behaved was degrading and the club didn't help either."

Barnett added that he hopes that Bale will "rediscover his love for the game" in London after the experience in Madrid. Bale's Spurs comeback on the pitch is not expected until mid-October after the international break due to an injury.
