Hamburg - ex-professional Luis Rubiales has been confirmed as President of the Spanish Football Association. At the general meeting, 95 out of 140 eligible voters voted for the 43-year-old.

Rubiales, who has been in office since May 2018 and is now elected until 2024, had no opponent. The five-time world goalkeeper Iker Casillas had announced an application in February, but withdrew it in June due to the coronavirus pandemic. In August, the 39-year-old announced the end of his active career.
