Multiple Jets players spoke publicly about how they felt the practices had been lacking, and that it contributed to Gang Green's 0-2 start. Safety Bradley McDougald told SNY some of the practices had been “slow.” Linebacker Avery Williamson agreed, telling WFAN that they “haven’t been as crisp” as they should be.

Mike Greenberg rips Jets coach Adam Gase, cites troubling stats The Jets have scored just 33 touchdowns in 17 games under Gase. They’ve punted 93 times during that span. They’ve only scored on 24% of their possessions, which is the worst in the NFL. Their average drive length is 23 yards, which is also the worst in the league. PHOENIX — Adam Gase expects the Jets to be playing meaningful games in December this year. The new coach stopped short of predicting his team would make the playoffs The 40-year-old Gase has emphasized building his culture as well as finding talent with the players the Jets have picked up.

This was news to Gase, who said Wednesday he hadn’t heard the criticisms and didn’t entirely agree with them.

“Nobody said anything during the week,” Gase said, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “I felt like we had really good tempo to practice. Sometimes an individual guy, if he wants to change something, we talk about it every week. It’s an open forum. If somebody doesn’t like the way something’s going, we can easily speak up.

“I haven’t necessarily felt that (practices were slow). When I watch our guys, I feel like guys are flying around. They’re chasing the ball.”

Once again, Gase just doesn’t seem to be on the same page as his players. He’s clashed with one of them during the offseason, too. If multiple veteran players are willing to say publicly that they’re not happy with how the Jets are practicing, Gase should look into it. The fact that he doesn’t seem to agree only adds to the appearance of dysfunction within the team.

Schefter reported a few days ago that the NFLPA was looking into the matter, and Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports elaborated on that point.

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson responded to those doubting the hire, and explained exactly why he chose the former coach of an AFC East rival. Plenty of raised eyebrows and social media scorn followed when the New York Jets hired Adam Gase as the new head coach.

Jets ’ Adam Gase has an excuse for every occasion. “We need to apply what we’re doing in practice and execute the same way on Sunday,” he insisted. Although Gase is smart enough to know that no rational Jets follower actually believes what he’s selling, he also understands that it’s his only way to

Ahead of Weeks 3 and 4, it could be smart to stash guys like Jeff Wilson Jr., Justin Herbert, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as they look to earn high-volume opportunities.Admittedly, it's tough to drop players that you're confident in, and at this point in the season, you may have a lot of those. Still, it's important to project into the future. So, if you're still holding onto a player that rarely starts and is dealing with an injury, like Christian Kirk, it could make sense to drop them to pick up a guy like Jeff Wilson Jr.

Jets QB Sam Darnold likely to miss NFL Week 5 with shoulder injury? .
While the Jets want to see how he feels at practice on Wednesday, with the emphasis being on his ability to throw, there is a real chance the injury is too significant to play through.
