A Denver man was charged with murder a double shooting that occurred after a dispute about a group of children playing near his yard.

According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, Jason Arroyo, 33, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and menacing following the Sept. 6 incident, the Denver Post reported.

The confrontation started over two children who were playing in an unfenced area behind a housing complex.

Arroyo allegedly threw water on the children and was confronted by two adults. After arguing, Arroyo went into his residence and returned with a handgun. He allegedly fired the gun six times and hit two people multiple times.

After attempting to flee the area, Arroyo was taken into custody after he was found in a detached garage behind a house.

Patricia Cruz, 55, died on September 18 at a hospital of gun shot wounds, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

A man was also seriously injured in the shooting, according to CBS 4.
