Sport Terry Bradshaw rips Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia again: 'Can't coach a lick'
Cowboys place CB Chidobe Awuzie on IR with hamstring injury
Chidobe Awuzie's hamstring injury will lead to a placement on injured reserve. One the key players in Dallas’ post-Byron Jones puzzle, Awuzie has played 86 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this season. He went down late in the Cowboys’ 40-39 win over the Falcons.
Themay be on bye this week, but that did not stop Fox analyst Terry Bradshaw from as Lions head coach for the second time in three weeks.
"Patricia, in Detroit, can't coach," Bradshaw said during Fox's Sunday pregame show. "Smartest guy in the world. Rocket scientist. Engineer. Can't coach a lick. Can't hold a lead when they're leading by 10 points. He's got to be gone."
Bills designate former All-Pro CB Josh Norman for return
Buffalo and Norman hope a reunion with Bills head coach Sean McDermott — who was Carolina’s defensive coordinator throughout Norman’s entire tenure with the club — would help the CB look more like his old self.Once considered one of the best corners in the league, Norman was all over headlines back in 2016 when he and the Panthers were going through a messy divorce. On the heels of a platform campaign that saw him bring home First-Team All-Pro honors, Norman was hit with the franchise tag, but Carolina rescinded the tag shortly thereafter. When that happened, Norman signed a five-year, $75M contract with Washington, which made him the highest-paid CB in NFL history at the time.
Bradshaw said in September, before the Lions' only win of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, that both Patricia and Lions general manager Bob Quinnbecause of the team's persistent struggles during their tenure.
The Lions enter the bye week at 1-3 in last place in the NFC North, and have lost 12 of their past 13 games dating back to last season. Patricia is 10-25-1 as head coach, with 12 of those losses coming in games.
This year, the Lions have blown leads of 17, 11 and 14 points in losses to the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.
Six-time Pro Bowl safety Eric Weddle open to NFL return
Six-time Pro Bowl safety Eric Weddle, who announced his retirement in February, may be getting the itch to play again. According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network (video link), Weddle has received at least two offers from NFL clubs, and though he spurned both of those overtures, the 35-year-old is open to a return. © Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports Garafolo says that an AFC North club made an offer prior to the season, and depending on when the offer was made, it could have come from either the Browns, Ravens, or Steelers.

After a segment on the Atlanta Falcons and embattled coach Dan Quinn during Sunday's show, Bradshaw called for the jobs of both Patricia and New York Jets coach Adam Gase, who he called a "terrible head coach."
"Coaches have to today, I believe, be more of a player-friendly coach," Bradshaw said. "They have to be a guy that commands respect, but the players love to play for them."
Several former Lions spoke out last week againstwhen he took over as Lions coach in 2018. The Lions went 9-7 in the two seasons before Patricia came to Detroit, and Patricia ran off several of the team's best players, including Darius Slay and Quandre Diggs.
49ers fear Ziggy Ansah has torn biceps
An MRI is needed to confirm, but if that’s the case, Ansah is likely done for the year. It’s a tough blow to a 49ers defensive line that has been decimated by injuries. The defensive front was the engine behind the Super Bowl run last year, and the unit is now completely unrecognizable. All-Pro DeForest Buckner was traded to the Colts this offseason, and Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas are both done for the season after suffering torn ACLs. Ansah was brought in as a splash signing to help replace those guys, and now it looks like he’ll be shut down as well.
"You look at Gase and you look at Matt Patricia, I think they've just been Xs and Os guys," fellow Fox analyst Michael Strahan said. "You have to have relationships if you want to win in this league with your players that will run through a wall for you."
